FIFA offers immediate financial support to federations affected by COVID-19

In a press release, issued a few moments ago, FIFA emphasizes that it will meet the expenses owed to the different Federations of the world, for operating expenses for the years 2019 and 2020. This is the full statement:

In the next few days, FIFA will send to the federations all the pending funds destined to cover operational expenses for the years 2019 and 2020. This is the first phase of the plan to help the football community affected by the pandemic. Thanks to this measure, some USD 150 million will be distributed among 211 soccer governing bodies in each country.

"The pandemic has caused unprecedented difficulties for the entire football community and, as the world governing body, FIFA has a duty to support those who need it most," said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. "The first thing is to provide financial support. immediately to our member federations, as many are having serious problems in this area. This is the first phase of a far-reaching economic support plan that we are developing to respond to the emergency situation experienced by the football community Global. Member federations must use this immediate financial aid to mitigate the negative consequences of COVID-19 in soccer, that is, to fulfill the economic or operational obligations that they may have with respect to their staff and third parties. Standard obligations and responsibilities regarding the use of these funds, as explained in the Forward 2.0 Regulations, will continue to apply in full and will be subject to audits and standard financial reporting processes.
