Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda has died at the age of 93 from a heart attack
Lasorda was more than just the coach who won World Series titles. He was also the guy who once apparently trained an injured boy out of a coma and ultimately used him as a batboy.
Lasorda was more than the second most victorious manager in Dodgers history, with the second most wins in the playoffs. He was also a legendary eater who turned a weight loss challenge from Orel Hershiser and Kirk Gibson into a campaign that built a new convent for the Sisters of Mercy in Nashville.
He was a poor boy who grew up the son of Italian immigrants, in a neighborhood of Norristown, Pennsylvania, and he spent his life as a reflection of those roots. He literally had to fight his way into Vero Beach Dodgertown when he was late for his first spring training in 1948, and spent the next six decades attacking life with a chip on his shoulder and gratitude in his heart. .
Rest in peace Chief, your legacy, your love for Baseball and the Dogers, it will be something nice to tell all future generations
God have you in his holy glory. People like you were, take pride, not only in sport in general, but also exemplifies the behavior that every human being should have, towards his fellow men, in this world
Rest in Peace - 1927 - 2021
