He was born on October 22, 1949, in Estrasburgo - France.
As a soccer player, he debuted in 1973 with the FC Mulhouse team in the defense position, he is 1.91 tall, he retired in 1981 with Racing de Estrasburgo.
As a coach, he was in As Nancy, As Monaco, Nagoya Grampus of Japan, and since September 1996, in the Arsenal team of the premier league of England.
Twenty years at the head as a coach of a great institution of such prestige worldwide as the Arsenal, Arsene has won more than 17 titles, directed more than 1200 games, players like Patrick Vieira, Nicolas Anelka, George Weah, Fabregas, Ozil, Sanchez Alexis, Joel Campbell, Robin Van Persie, Thierry Henry, and many others, were mostly discovered, or prepared by the trainer of French origin.
He also won two more titles in Japan with the Nagoya Grampus and two more in his native France with the As Monaco.
