Las Vegas - United States

Stephen Paddock, the man who killed at least 58 people in Las Vegas, and 515 injured people, was a retired 64-year-old public accountant who lived next to a quiet golf course in Mesquite, Nevada.

On Sunday night, according to police reports, Paddock wagered on a room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, and fired blasts at a crowd attending a musical show.

Police said Paddock was found dead in his room, possibly after committing suicide. In the room the agents found at least eight weapons, some of long pipe.

So far Paddock's motivations are unknown, and even his family members said they have no idea what happened to the discreet retiree.

His brother Eric Paddock told the Las Vegas Review-Journal: "We have no idea what happened. It's as if an asteroid had made an impact on the family. "

According to him, his brother had no political or religious ties. "He was just a normal guy. Something broke in him, something happened, "he said.

"We are in a state of shock," he added.

Meanwhile, on NBC the man said that his brother enjoyed making trips to Las Vegas to attend shows and bet on casinos.

According to police reports, Paddock had no police record or arrest record. In addition to being a certified public accountant, he had a pilot's license and held a major hunting permit, valid for the territory of Alaska.

The public information available indicates that he lived in a residence next to a golf course in the small town of Mesquite, near the division of Nevada with Arizona, about 130 kilometers from Las Vegas.
